Laziness breeds creativity

Connection, Stavanger, January 2008

Tonight I had every intention of getting out and about in Stavanger with my pocket camera. Then the air turned chilly and damp. I lost my motivation, instead opting for the warmth of the hotel room. I then started to look around me and decided to have some fun with strange landscapes not more than a couple of metres away. Here are some of the results. There truly are photographs everywhere.

  1. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who does this.

  2. You put me to shame. I'm in the middle of a hiatus and I'd blamed the weather!

  3. "Lamp, chair" is particularly appealing. The strong, graphic shapes seem both artificial and organic at the same time, and I like that shadow plays such a strong role in creating some of those shapes.

  4. That first Connection one puts me in mind of an Andrew Sanderson shot, either brio track or under the lamp. Lovely feel to all these images though. One of the things I like about these hotels from a comfort point of view is that they are all the same; not particularly individual, but at least you know what minimum standard to expect.
